The Constitution of Bangladesh enjoins that the law declared by the Appellate Division of Supreme Court shall be binding upon the High Court Division of the Supreme Court and the law declared by either division of the Supreme Court shall be binding on all Courts subordinate to it. Thus an accurate, authentic, and reliable law reporting became essential and indispensable requirement for administration of justice by courts. In the absence of this, the laws declared by the Superior Courts remained unreported and therefore inaccessible and its value as binding precedent got greatly diminished.
Bangladesh Legal Decisions was then introduced, satisfying the ever increasing demands by reporting cases decided by the Supreme Court.
